Mount Wilson Residence

Classic Mountain Retreat

Designed as a Colorado mountain retreat for a family seeking comfort over formality, this architectural compound offers a relaxed, grounded take on mountain living. This Edwards residence was conceived to feel as though it had always belonged to the land, additive in nature, with a design language that blends the old with the new.

The layout evokes the feeling of organic growth, with each structure appearing to have been introduced over time. From a distance, the architecture presents a weathered, timeworn appearance; up close, it reveals a fresh interpretation of a traditional barn. A detached guest barn, clad in reclaimed wood, operates either independently or in harmony with the main house and reinforces the story of a historic outbuilding repurposed for modern use.

This project is a thoughtful study in mountain modern architecture, where timeless materials and contextual design come together to create a retreat rooted in both memory and experience.

Roaring Fork Club Cabins

An Idyllic Expansion

Nestled amidst a stunning landscape of aspen and spruce trees, the Roaring Fork Cabins are a compelling new addition to The Roaring Fork Club, positioned along the fairway of its celebrated Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course. Drawing from the timeless character of traditional Colorado mountain cabins, the architectural design incorporates log siding, vertical board-and-batten fir, dry-stack natural fieldstone, and corrugated metal porch roofs, materials chosen for both authenticity and durability.

This new phase reflects a seamless blend of classic mountain aesthetics and modern architectural principles. While the original 18-hole course and residences, developed in 1999, established the club’s signature style, the new cabins continue this legacy on the north side of Highway 82, east of downtown Basalt.

The Roaring Fork Cabins represent a thoughtful approach to mountain modern architecture, respecting the natural landscape while offering refined comfort and enduring design. As the club expands, the project reinforces its commitment to environmental stewardship and provides residents with a beautifully integrated retreat in the heart of the Rockies.
