Ski Haus is a residential architecture project located in Aspen Colorado’s historic West End, where timeless character and thoughtful design converge. As a historic remodel, it was imperative that the architecture blend seamlessly with the surrounding neighborhood, honoring the district’s Victorian roots while offering a fresh, contemporary perspective.

Rooted in tradition yet reimagined for modern living, the design integrates subtle contemporary elements within a classic framework, resulting in a residence that feels both enduring and current. This warm, refined home reflects the enduring appeal of Aspen’s residential heritage while offering a sophisticated take on mountain living.

Roaring Fork Club

More Than a Golf Club

The Roaring Fork Club is home to a rare Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The 282-acre site, rich with the history of early settlers, ranching traditions, and original log structures, inspired a design language that honors the land.

Set along the Roaring Fork River in Basalt, Colorado at the top of the Rocky Mountains, the club structures feature native stone chimneys, large hand-hewn timbers, and wide timber-framed porches, echoing the textures and forms of their surroundings. Architecture at the Roaring Fork Club invites connection to the outdoors, with generous covered porches that extend each building’s footprint into the landscape.

The Club includes 45 members' cabins, twenty-five privately owned and twenty available through a fractional ownership program. Each cabin exemplifies a warm, residential architecture style that balances rustic charm with mountain comfort, offering views of the fairways and space to gather around an outdoor fire under the Colorado sky.

Marketplace Carbondale

A Community Marketplace

The Carbondale Marketplace is part of a larger, long-envisioned property that has been the focus of planning discussions for over a decade. As community needs evolved, priorities such as a new grocery store and expanded rental housing emerged as essential components of the project’s direction. In response, the design team developed a site plan that addresses these immediate needs while laying the groundwork for future growth.

The plan includes 11 proposed buildings featuring a mix of commercial and residential architecture that front the main roadways. A variety of architectural styles, scales, and massing elements were employed to create visual diversity and a pedestrian-friendly streetscape. Internal parking, a central green space, and strong pedestrian and bicycle connectivity were all thoughtfully integrated to ensure accessibility, walkability, and convenience for the wider Carbondale, Colorado community.

Spacious Design

This unique single-family Colorado home, perched above the Roaring Fork River, is the result of a full architectural and interior remodel that reimagines the residence both inside and out. Poss collaborated with designer Lynni Hutton to transform the layout, relocating the stairway and reconfiguring the upper level to create a more open, loft-like experience filled with natural light and improved flow.

On the exterior, new materials such as Western red cedar siding bring warmth and texture to the architecture, aligning the home with its natural surroundings. Inside, carefully selected furnishings and finishes highlight the airy design and reflect a thoughtful, cohesive interior design approach. The result is a refined example of residential architecture that beautifully merges Aspen mountain living with the serenity of the Roaring Fork River.

534 E. Cooper

Iconic Landmark

Located just one block from the gondola, at the prominent corner of Hunter Street and Cooper Avenue, this iconic Aspen structure, formerly known as Boogie’s Diner, has been reimagined as a high-end commercial space ideal for both retail and restaurant use. With over 16,000 square feet of conditioned space, including 12,000 square feet across the ground and upper levels, the building was thoughtfully designed to retain much of its original structure, minimizing the need for extensive structural changes.

Originally designed by Poss, the Boogie’s building represents a multigenerational project for our team, one that bridges past and present. This latest iteration reflects the historic vernacular of this prominent Colorado town, while introducing a fresh, contemporary sensibility. Steel detailing used in place of traditionally expected wood adds a modern edge, while expansive glazing maximizes storefront visibility and natural light. Enlarged upper-level windows frame stunning views of the surrounding mountains, further enhancing the building’s visual and experiential appeal.

Great Family Retreat

The Mountain Ranch Residence is designed as a retreat for an extended family, with both private spaces that cater to the needs of the household, and public spaces suitable for business and entertainment. Double Bar X

Addictive Architecture

The property is situated overlooking Maroon Creek just outside of Aspen, CO. This residence’s panoramic view stretches from Hunter Creek to the Tiehack ski area. The inspiration behind the design was the ranching history of the property dating back over 100 years.  The architecture utilizes reclaimed barn wood and native stone veneer on a series of connected structures conjuring up the image of addictive architecture created over a period of time. The concept of connecting several structures also allowed the large extended family to share family spaces, while providing room and privacy for all family members.  The theme of providing both family and private spaces continues outside with 12 different terraces, decks, and landscaped areas each offering a different experience for the family.

The main house and the guest wing are relinked by a transparent bridge with water flowing underneath.

Jack Daniels Barbeque Pavilion

Influenced by the countryside

The Brown-Forman Corporation, owners of Jack Daniel’s, invited us to the company’s visitor center in Lynchburg, TN for a two-day design charrette. Poss was asked to create a vision for the Barbecue Pavilion; a hillside facility which would host numerous events during warm weather months, and would serve 200 guests on average. The owners shared with us the company’s renewed focus on the visitor experience and a desire for quality. The final design drew influences from the site views of the countryside, the local character, and the stature of the icon brand.
