This mountain home  located in Deer Valley, Utah quietly unites the expansive natural surroundings with a sophisticated and comfortable architectural environment, redefining the experience of indoor-outdoor living. Private spaces are housed in a series of staggered stone pavilions that follow the ridge, while a central glass pavilion anchors the public areas, its movable glass walls opening to the landscape and reinforcing a direct connection to the sloping site.

The mountain modern architecture prioritizes flow and clarity, supported by a synchronized palette of materials that unify exterior and interior finishes. Selected in collaboration with WRJ, the material choices further enhance the home’s sense of fluidity and immersion in nature.

Despite the layered precision of its architectural elements, nature remains the focal point. Reflected in the pool overlooking the reservoir, the changing sky becomes an ever-present part of the experience, transforming the home into a living, breathing connection between earth, water, and sky.

Modern Telluride

Set high above Deep Creek Canyon in Telluride with sweeping 360-degree views of the San Miguel Mountain Range, the Sunset Ridge residence is a 12,000 sq. ft. architectural statement rooted in its remarkable Colorado surroundings. This ultra-modern mountain home was conceived to inspire wonder at every turn, offering a spatial experience that feels both unexpected and intimately connected to the landscape.

Departing from conventional orthogonal geometries, the architecture is defined by soaring angular rooflines, dramatic steel structure, and floor-to-ceiling glass that frames the surrounding peaks and canyons. Detailed limestone walls ground the home to the site, reinforcing its connection to the land while adding texture and permanence.

Sunset Ridge embodies a bold, mountain modern approach, one that both honors and challenges its environment to create a truly one-of-a-kind retreat in Telluride’s rugged terrain.

Willoughby Way Residence

Panoramic Views

This unparalleled contemporary residence in Aspen, Colorado, captures the essence of mountain modern architecture at its most refined. Positioned to take full advantage of a sweeping panorama, from Independence Pass to Mount Sopris, this remarkable residential remodel is filled with natural light and unobstructed views from nearly every room.

Meticulously crafted inside and out, the architecture features precision-cut Spanish stone, Ipe wood accents, and doors and walls designed to float seamlessly at both top and bottom. With over 9,600 square feet of living space, the home includes a stunning master suite, four en suite guest bedrooms, 6.5 baths, a gourmet kitchen, and an office with a fireplace. Amenities such as a Hammam-style steam room, spa-inspired massage space, 2,000-bottle wine storage, media and exercise rooms, and a three-car garage speak to the home’s thoughtful functionality and luxurious intent.

A disappearing glass wall in the dining room opens to a patio with a fireplace, reinforcing the architectural focus on indoor-outdoor living. The interiors, designed in collaboration with Nathalie Ryan of Kirei Studio, complement the contemporary architecture with a serene material palette and elegant detailing, bringing a sense of warmth to this extraordinary Aspen retreat.

These fourteen residences mimic the lines of their mountain backdrop at the base of Aspen Mountain ski area. The upper units step up the slope, giving each a unique identity, while the lower units are arranged to open up mountain views while maintaining privacy and emphasizing indoor/outdoor living.

Aspen Views at their Finest

Just steps from downtown Aspen, this 8,200 sq. ft. contemporary residence exemplifies mountain modern architecture with clean lines, open volumes, and a seamless connection to its natural surroundings. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows frame panoramic views of Independence Pass, Aspen Mountain, and Shadow Mountain, filling the home with light and anchoring it within the alpine landscape.

The architectural design enhances the open floor plan with south-facing dining and living spaces that promote effortless flow and indoor-outdoor living. Monumental limestone panels, walnut, and granite add depth and warmth to the home’s refined material palette, while the structure itself strikes a balance between sophistication and comfort.

Four Peaks Ranch

A Family Compound Amidst an 860-Acre Working Ranch

Set on an 860-acre working ranch in Snowmass, Colorado, this family retreat embraces a mountain modern architectural approach that honors its alpine environment and rural context. The design centers on an immersive indoor-outdoor living experience, blending contemporary expression with a reverence for local building traditions.

The master plan establishes a family compound oriented to capture sweeping views of the Elk Mountains. A collection of interconnected structures, organized around a central courtyard, evokes the layout of historic regional ranches, reimagined through a refined and modern lens. The architecture is designed to sit lightly on the land, integrating with the surrounding landscape through natural materials and thoughtful massing.

Beyond the residence, the site includes a working ranch and equestrian facility, enhancing the property's functionality and heritage. A bridge wing housing an office defines the dramatic entry sequence, framed by sculpted rock site walls, cascading water features, and layered native landscaping. The result is a striking yet grounded retreat that reflects a deep connection to place and purpose.

Warmth, Comfort and Connection

The Sopris, Capitol Peak, and Aspen Mountain Houses at Aspen Valley Ranch offer a striking expression of residential architecture that reflects both the serenity and grandeur of their setting in the Roaring Fork Valley. Each residence is centered around a thoughtfully designed internal courtyard, creating a private and immersive connection to the surrounding landscape.

Positioned in Woody Creek, Colorado to capture stunning views of Independence Pass and enveloped by water features, these homes balance refined design with a strong connection to nature. Natural materials such as stone and wood are used throughout, reinforcing the rustic elegance of the architecture while extending to generous outdoor living areas that promote year-round enjoyment.

Set within 813 acres of forest, pasture, and foothills just outside Aspen, Aspen Valley Ranch combines custom-designed residences with a suite of curated amenities and outdoor activities. Cohesive Design

This 1890 miner’s cabin in Aspen’s historic West End radiates cottage charm, subtly concealing its expansive 4,636 sq. ft., three-story interior. Our team collaborated with Workshop/APD on the exterior architecture, planning, HPC approvals, and spatial layout to thoughtfully renovate the home into a compelling expression of mountain-modern residential architecture.

The design achieves a seamless balance between classic and contemporary, with architectural elements that honor the home’s heritage while introducing modern functionality and warmth. Inside, the interiors reflect a cohesive vision, where natural textures, thoughtful detailing, and a connection to the outdoors bring the spirit of Aspen to life in every space.

Marketplace Carbondale

A Community Marketplace

The Carbondale Marketplace is part of a larger, long-envisioned property that has been the focus of planning discussions for over a decade. As community needs evolved, priorities such as a new grocery store and expanded rental housing emerged as essential components of the project’s direction. In response, the design team developed a site plan that addresses these immediate needs while laying the groundwork for future growth.

The plan includes 11 proposed buildings featuring a mix of commercial and residential architecture that front the main roadways. A variety of architectural styles, scales, and massing elements were employed to create visual diversity and a pedestrian-friendly streetscape. Internal parking, a central green space, and strong pedestrian and bicycle connectivity were all thoughtfully integrated to ensure accessibility, walkability, and convenience for the wider Carbondale, Colorado community.

Hopkins Avenue Residence

Spacious Design

This unique single-family Colorado home, perched above the Roaring Fork River, is the result of a full architectural and interior remodel that reimagines the residence both inside and out. Poss collaborated with designer Lynni Hutton to transform the layout, relocating the stairway and reconfiguring the upper level to create a more open, loft-like experience filled with natural light and improved flow.

On the exterior, new materials such as Western red cedar siding bring warmth and texture to the architecture, aligning the home with its natural surroundings. Inside, carefully selected furnishings and finishes highlight the airy design and reflect a thoughtful, cohesive interior design approach. The result is a refined example of residential architecture that beautifully merges Aspen mountain living with the serenity of the Roaring Fork River.

An Inspired Home

“Fallingwater,” blending bold architectural expression with a deep respect for its extraordinary natural setting. Located near Aspen, Colorado, the home is sited on a narrow peninsula surrounded by towering evergreens, dramatic red rock outcroppings, and a rushing river below.

The architectural design terraces down the hillside, with the floor plan thoughtfully arranged to position the primary living spaces along the tip of the peninsula. This strategic placement maximizes sweeping views of the Castle Creek valley while fostering a profound sense of immersion in the landscape. A striking example of residential architecture, this project celebrates both form and setting in equal measure.

Wildcat Residence

A European-Inspired Estate

Set on a 500-acre parcel near Aspen, Colorado, the Wildcat Residence is a secluded mountain estate overlooking a serene series of three ponds. This expansive residential architecture project includes a 20,000-square-foot main house, a 2,500-square-foot guest cottage, and a 6,000-square-foot barn, all thoughtfully designed to reflect the timeless elegance of a European country estate.

The architectural composition embraces classical proportions and detailing, with each structure positioned to enhance the experience of the surrounding landscape. Formal gardens extend along a central axis from the main residence to the nearest pond, reinforcing a sense of order and refinement. Interiors are designed to complement the estate's traditional aesthetic, offering a cohesive blend of comfort, scale, and sophistication in the heart of the mountains.

Mountain Ranch Residence

Great Family Retreat

The Mountain Ranch Residence is designed as a retreat for an extended family, with both private spaces that cater to the needs of the household, and public spaces suitable for business and entertainment. The home is designed to be reminiscent of a classic and great mountain lodge. In order to create a look that is both rustic and stately, we used heavy antique oak timbers, paneling and flagstone flooring, accented with delicately carved fireplace mantles and stair balustrades. The richly-appointed interiors compliment the architectural backdrop through the use of an eclectic mixture of furniture, fabrics and artwork to complete this unique and beautiful home.

Double Bar X

Addictive Architecture

The property is situated overlooking Maroon Creek just outside of Aspen, CO. This residence’s panoramic view stretches from Hunter Creek to the Tiehack ski area. The inspiration behind the design was the ranching history of the property dating back over 100 years.  The architecture utilizes reclaimed barn wood and native stone veneer on a series of connected structures conjuring up the image of addictive architecture created over a period of time. The concept of connecting several structures also allowed the large extended family to share family spaces, while providing room and privacy for all family members.  The theme of providing both family and private spaces continues outside with 12 different terraces, decks, and landscaped areas each offering a different experience for the family.

Ute Avenue Residence

Connected by Water

This 10,000 square foot residence was designed to feel like water is running through and around it. The home has four wings that make it flexible and is a departure from the traditional timber homes that have become synonymous with the mountain lifestyle. A Montana granite wall bifurcates the home’s footprint, running all the way from the exterior entry through the home. The main house and the guest wing are relinked by a transparent bridge with water flowing underneath.

Playing off of the land

The residence takes cues from the rugged steep site and layers of cliff bands above. The planning is arranged around multiple stone walls that emulate cliff bands with angled walls and shed roofs that open up to primary views.
